Al Ormsby

I am intrigued by the simplicity of line, play of light, shadow, and minimalism.

Aluminum for me is the perfect metal. It is a love/hate relationship, a defiant, delicate material to work and demands caution of the invisible heat that breathes life into the piece.

You can hammer, grind, blast, fold, anodize, directy powder paint, and polish to a beautiful mirror finish. When experimenting with gouging and texture, it can be disastrous and painful, but most fulfilling.

Simply amazing to work with, I always respect the feel for the endless flexibility of clay and patient demands of working with stone.

I hope my efforts are as pleasing to the viewer as the enjoyment of the creative process is to me.
